Welcome to a new year.

Even if this past one felt particularly challenging, one perspective we can take it that THIS is where growth occurs, whether we like it or not, whether it feels good or not, whether we recognize it or not.

I hope you’re able to celebrate your ability to adapt, stretch, tolerate, and at the same time, be compassionate with yourself. ♥

As we sit upon the precipice of what lies ahead for the next 12 months, the pure potential of 2022 perhaps felt, but yet unknown, many of us succumb to the pressure to write a long list of resolutions or large goals.

Now don’t get me wrong, this girl loves a goal!

It’s how we get to our goals that may require consideration – starting with small, realistic, sustainable ones.    Whatever your process is for starting the new year, I wish for you time in stillness, quiet, and peace. To be able to hear that which is emerging from within. ♥

My mentor Priya shared this with me, and I’m passing it on to you (written by Nicole LePera).

“RESIST the urge to make it New Year’s resolutions. No matter what messages are pushed in our culture or in our media about the resolution or goals after the NEW year – the media push it’s not for your highest good. Our brains are not designed to keep GRAND gestures.

We make New Year’s resolutions with good intentions, but without understanding our brains, we set ourselves up for failure.

When we make resolutions that are TOO far from our current habits/lack beliefs/fears/pain we instigate our inner child trauma and our brain feels like it’s in danger. It then creates all the reasons why we SHOULD not do whatever that is and goes into self-sabotage as a way of protecting ourselves.

When we say things like ‘I’ll go the gym every day (when you have never been consistent), or ‘I’ll do 30 minutes of meditation daily or lose 20 pounds’  – It sends the brain into fear mode because these goals are too far from our familiar life experiences.

TRUE transformation in life (at new Year or any time of the year) only works with SMALL DAILY promises that you know you will 100% keep. EXAMPLES: Drink a glass of water every day, wake up 10 minutes early, read 5 pages of a book daily, a journal for 5 minutes.

This will build self-trust and the brain will not feel that it is under threat and create self-sabotage.”

It’s okay not to have New Year’s resolutions
It’s okay not to have big goals for your life
It’s okay not to have plans you want to
Manifest
It’s okay not to chase your dreams
That path is not for everyone
Some walk the path of
Unbecoming
They are traveling the road
Backwards
Seeking the core
What is basic and essential
What has been there all along
Though we may be headed the same direction
Our spirals are mirror opposites
Some walk the path of the visionary
Creating abundance and
Dancing inside a multiplicity of forms
And Some walk the path
Of the serpent owl
Becoming more and more naked
Shedding layers of fantasy into the ash
Night sky
Sitting in the dark
And seeing the way the wind moves
They do not walk a line or
Poise their arrow to the target
They sit at the bottom of the ocean
And wait
Letting the waves devour them
They are following the pulse
Of listening
To silence
Like a tiger in the brush
Waiting for existence to strike lightening
Into the fire of the heart
For this kind
Nothing less will do
Some are opening the palms of their hands
And unraveling
To become
Less and less
Until they are
No-Thing
To become the still point
In the center of
All
You know who you are
Keep going
